I HATE when people type text messages like that. Really, it’s like nails on a chalkboard (which never really bothered me) so it’s like metal scraping against metal, in my case. I can see why people used to text message like that in the days when the amount you text messaged was pretty pricey. I get it. But there’s absolutely no reason to text message people in that manner now with the advent of unlimited text messages.
I also find it dumbs down your ability to type. I know someone who types in ‘text message speak’ with or without a text message and it annoys the fuck out of me. Why do people still do this? Hell, for that matter, why do people carry it over to instant messaging and emails? Yes, yes, I get that this is possibly an inane thing to get rankled over, but there you are. It’s annoying at having to deal with a person when they constantly type like that and you’re left with the impression that they never learned how to type and/or learn proper English.
